Plumbing

LEED certification requires that plumbing of the home has to be designed with the shortest distance of pipe running between the hot water tanks and the faucets and showers in bathrooms and kitchens. Two domestic hot water tanks sit in the basement of the home.  The kitchen and bathrooms are stacked directly above the hot water tanks to minimize the plumbing distance and follow the LEED regulations.   Other plumbing products described below help reduce water usage in the home.

FloodStopper Leak Detection System

www.thefloodstopper.com

The FloodStopper is a patented, automated water leak detection system that provides 24/7 protection against flooding due to internal plumbing / pipe failures and accidental overflows. The FloodStopper leak detection system automatically shuts off the water supply instantly upon detection of a water leak. It is designed for use in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

How it Works

Each FloodStopper water leak detection system is comprised of 3 primary components: a series of sensors, a controller, and a shut-off-valve. In simple terms, if any one of the system's sensors detects water, it will send a signal to the control panel which in turn will tell the special valve on the main water supply to turn off.

Oxygenics Low Flow Showerhead

www.oxygenics.com

The Oxygenics system uses patented technology that sends water through an accelerator fin then continually introduces air into the high-velocity water creating a powerful oxygenated spray. Oxygenics uses less water overall, but since it plumps each drop with oxygen, you won't notice the difference. Oxygenics showers use as low as 1.5 gallons per minute without sacrificing pressure.

Product Review by Energy Environmental

This is a great product.  Oxygenics shower heads are the easiest and fastest brand of these products to install.  It took us less than five minutes and even includes teflon tape with the shower head.  There is a lifetime warranty on performance and finish. Outstanding shower quality . .. does not feel like an efficient water fixture, yet has very high efficiency.  It looks great and is easy to operate in shower.  These will be incorporated in the platinum LEED home.
